Ponies taken off site

Unfortunatly following recent complaints about Jack's behaviour the decision was made to have Jack and Jill removed from site.  The grazier came and removed the two ponies this afternoon, and they will be going to a home where there is less public access.  It is hoped that replacement ponies will be brought on at a later date.

During a walk around this morning i saw all the cattle, they were understandably sheltering from this hot sunny weather and were all lazing about in area 11.  They all seemed healthy and were munching away.

Got such a surprise today when we went watching today and found two new ponies on the site. They are lovely and thou I was very wary of them after Jack miss behaving last week the smaller one spotted us and came straight over and seemed very calm and gentle. We checked them over and apart from the flies they seem very helthy. We then started walking off and the smaller one wanted to come and walk with us and was quite happy to stay close. I then turned round too find the larger one also coming for a walk with us and to say hello and it wasn't till then we realized how big he is compared to the other one so we have now named them little and large. We then came out of the corral entrance and left the ponies to walk up to the end gate where we were off to look for the cattle at the stream. As we entered the gate we noticed that the bull was over the other side of the stream high up on the hill so we headed down over the bridge to see if we could see any of the others. While over the other side the two ponies noticed us over there and was quite eger to get over the other side and say hello again. The last we seen of them they were heading into the trees right at the top of the hill near to where the bench is. We went trecking to try and get closer to where we could see the bull to check him over and as we got closer we could see 3 adult cows all brown and 3 babies one black and two brown. They all looked very helthy and happierly eating but I was unable to check any of there legs due to the long bushes/grass. I did notice another post about one having a sore on their back leg so this is something I will look out for next week. We were unable to find the missing 3 cows but I am sure they were close by as I could hear movement in the bushes but it was to dence to spot them in there. Got some lovely photos so all in all a good evening watching.

    Saturday 26th May
Gloriously hot and all 10 cattle were found keeping cool in the stream. One cow was quite aggressive towards Houdini, knocking him over and pushing him away with her horns. Apart from that there was no signs of irritation or disease.
Jack and Jill might have gone (shame but we understand the council's caution) but what's this? We saw no mention of two new grey ponies in the ranger's blog? We have the photos!
