The cows at Castle Bottom have done a fantastic job this year in keeping the scrub down, and will soon be taken off the site for the winter as the amount of grazing becomes too low to sustain them. The grazier will be collecting the cattle during the first week of November (hopefully before the chance of any snowfall adding difficulties to the transportation!), and will be taken to another local site which will have more winter grazing so that they can stay well fed in the cold conditions. In the week leading up to this, we will be regularly getting the cows used to being led up to the corral, so perhaps we will see you there!
More details will be posted once the date has been confirmed...

Well that was almost too easy. The cows were all waiting for me by the first gate in from the woodland, and obediently followed me (with the promise of a bit of hay) to the corral. All 7 of them seem healthy and bright-eyed, munching on birch and grass along the way, and happy with their reward of hay at the end. All good signs.
